Autobiography-Final

Family  Background
My name is Ching-Ti Chen.  I am a seventeen-year-old teenager, born in Tainan City.  There are nine members in my family, including four adults and five children.  Because of the tough financial support and the low pay earned only by my mother, we five girls all have been taught to make good use of money and cherish everything since we were very young.  Also, all I can do to relieve my family finance is try my utmost to study hard and apply for scholarships, for not only do I have incapability of getting a job to earn money but I also want to repay my mother’s moil.

Father once occupied a sir in the military camp 30 years ago.  Accordingly, he is severe about our behavior, correcting our mistakes.  But he also gives me good lessons and trains me to become a responsible person.  My mom is a career woman and I show great respect to her, thinking of her as a superwoman.  She always encourages me to be more mature and independent.  Because of these concerned and tolerated parents, I grow up with happy and adore.  My elder sister studies in Department of Fashion Design in Tainan University Of Technology.  She is knowledgeable and good at art.  As I get into troubles, she will also listen to me and offer some constructive advice.  My three younger sisters bring laughter to us all the time and make the whole house filled with happiness.  My grandparents are over 70 years old; but they still healthy, usually concerning about our daily life.  It’s my pleasure to own such a lovely and harmonious family.  I have unforgettable memories from my childhood to now.

School  Life
Being an elementary school student, I wasn’t good at studying, especially in English, and usually got poor grades.  My mom sent me to a cram school and encouraged me to try to make friends with English and other subjects again and again.  ”Never give up, and triumph will be yours.” said my mom to me.  Not until I went to a cram school on the neighborhood did I have interest in English.  There, I improved my ability of English gradually and grades got better and better.   Eventually, I found the passion for learning it.  As an English lover, I applied to Department of Applied Foreign Languages in National Tainan Commercial Vocational Senior High School, where could content my enthusiasm for English.

In NTCVS I had a knowledge-enriched school life.  Not only did I keep paying close attention in class, but I also studied hard and did my utmost to study English.  In my free time, I listened to English broadcasting radio such as ICRT.   English textbooks, I study every issue of Advanced Studio Classroom magazine to train my reading skills and increase vocabulary.  Furthermore, for the sake of examining my English ability, I took General English Proficiency Test (GEPT) for the elementary and intermediate level and passed it.   Apart from English, I strived to equip myself with computer software abilities.  Finally, my efforts paid off.  I get a grade C license of application of computer software.  In addition, I love drawing pictures and designing.  As a consequence, I served as the director of academic and art affair section two times.  If there is any competition about these, I will be bond to participate in them.

Besides undergoing academic education, I also retain unforgettable recalls with my classmates over these three years.  For example, we had such many activities as volleyball games, which is one of my favorite sports and my school's traditions, field trips, athletic meets, and so on.  Once in a while, we crazily and delightedly cheered for our championships; however, sometime failures depressed us.

In the second year of my life of senior high, I participated in the track and field team.  This year was also the busiest moment because I had an important county race and our coach demanded us to practice everyday.  When my classmates were taking exams or studying in the morning, I had to receive the rigorous training.  The competition lasted for five days, which made me be absent.  After coming back to my school life, I had to take make-up exams and make up notes on textbooks.  As a student and athlete, I was so busy that I had no time having leisure recreations.  This experience enabled me to know that I should arrange my time regularly and orderly so that I wouldn't be eventually caught off my guard.

I also join various school clubs.  In my first year in NTCVS, I took part in a volleyball club; then the next year a music recording club, and now I attend the ABC club, which is about learning English.  I hoped to have my English skills improved a lot by joining this club.

Apart from above, the most precious treasure in my senior high school life is that I had several best and honest friends.  We usually discussed something interesting or went out for playing and shopping.  They would be willing to listen to me and provided useful suggestions as I encountered troublesome or annoying matters.  But most important of all is that they respect and support me for good.  I was really appreciated to own these genuine and intimate friends.

Self-Evaluation
Dealing with things by myself without asking for help is one of my personalities.  My mom has told me to be more independent and not to add others’ trouble since I was young.  Another reason is that I can just follow my will when doing something on my own.  I am a positive person.  Every day I wear a smile on the face and keep myself in a good mood.  Even though being under great strain or gloom, I usually calm down my mind, look on the bright side, and do what makes me happier.

With a diversity of hobbies, I am willing to learn whatever I have great interest in.  Cooking is one of my most favorite hobbies.  It brings me a sense of achievement when I finish a serving of culinary food with my whole heart.  I also feel happy as I serve the food to people and see the happy expressions on their face.  Moreover, I’m an athletic lover.  On the one hand I have been used to exercising since I was five.  On the other hand, exercising can not only keep the shape but develop a strong body.  It also makes me be in a good mood and have excellent immunity.

My advantage is being creative.  I usually fall into fantasy whenever even as I’m taking a class. With inspirations popping up in my mind, I write or draw them down in a notebook.  As a left-hander, I display great ardor for art.  I love drawing pictures in my free time.  I read comic books and see animations to gather inspirations.  For the sake of sharpening my drawing skills, I share my art works with friends and we give suggestions with one another.  If there are competitions about art or design held, I’ll take part in without hesitation.

Being a liberal-pursuer, I love living in a life full of free and without stress.   As being confronted with difficulties or overwhelmed by the pressure of schoolwork, I tend to go out for a walk, seeing scenery to help my mood calm and relax.  Sometimes I send a greet message to my friends to keep in touch.  In such special holidays as Christmas and moon festival, we give cards and presents to express our sincerity.  Although my daily life is ordinary and plain, I am content with what I have experienced and appreciate what some people have done for me.

My motto is “Strive harder to tackle difficulties and make more efforts in work, while pleasure is what you can derive from it.”   If I am willing to study harder and be tougher, and do my utmost for everything, then enjoyment will be with you for good.  This motto gave me motivation to be proficient in English and exploit it.

Future  Perspective
Languages are very marvelous, which can not only convey what people are thinking in their mind but also built up a bridge between the communications with others.  Nowadays, English has become the second tongue and necessary worldwide.  English, to me, is a novel language except for my native language, Chinese.  With the first touch with English when being young, until now the continuous learning, I have improved my English abilities and been stimulated with the passion of English.  What's more, I also like the courses about hospitality and travel.  Therefore, Department of Applied English in National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism is my first choice.

This is a new apartment established in National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism recently, differing from other universities because it tends to the aspect of hospitality.  But it provides a diversity of lessons.  Not only does it has basic English courses –—listening, speaking, reading, and writing, but it also has professional hospitality and advanced Japanese learning lessons.  Moreover, which lures me most is the chance of abroad practical training.  I can learn to serve customers in hotels and broaden my visions both domestically and overseas.

As for my future study plans, I’ll keep sharpening my English essential skills, especially in speaking.  I hope one day I can communicate with foreigners naturally and make eye contact to them.  In addition, I read more foreign magazines and novels, listen to English songs or radios.  Besides English, I’ll also enhance knowledge in Japanese and hospitality and travel in order to enlarge my cognition.  Above all are the motivations and I really hope that I can be admitted to this university.  In the space of four years, I will do my best to achieve my goals, making progress step by step.

Conclusion
Although the study stress is so heavy and I have to undertake strict training of every aspect in English, I think I won’t regret to have entered this apartment.  Having unforgettable and precious experience in high school, I am expecting to lead another brand-new life in your university.  With the enthusiasm of learning English, I am sure that I can thoroughly develop my ability of language and let myself touch deeper with English in the following four years.
